RETURNS BY POPULAR DEMAND FOR ITS 12th YEAR
Gardena -- One of the most successful Back to School Conference and Concerts in Los Angeles, founded, created, and produced by Dorean Edwards of Consultant Entertainment, returns Saturday, September 19, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. This event will take place at The City of Refuge, 14527 South San Pedro in Gardena, CA, under the leadership of Bishop Noel Jones who has served as the Executive Producer of the youth conference since its inception. This annual fun-filled event brings together both celebrities and the community with a fully charged and energetic day of fellowship, education, and entertainment.
This year's concert and conference will be hosted by actor, Aaron Meeks of the hit series, "Soul Food", and actor Deance Wyatt from the movie "Freedom Writers". The workshop segment, hosted by Dr. Carole A. Cobb, (Founder and President of APEX Leadership School and author of The Nature of the Journey) will include fashion designers, graphic and cartoon animators, American Idol representatives, tennis shoe designers, music industry representatives, and Wells Fargo Bank representatives.
Special Speakers will include actress, Tichina Arnold ("Everybody Hates Chris", "Martin"); actor, Columbus Short ("Stomp the Yard", "This Christmas", and "Cadillac Records"); actor, Tommy "Tiny" Lister ("Friday", "Next Friday", "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa"); actress, Jordan Anita Moseley ("Be Cool", "Woman Thou Art Loosed"), and many more. Scheduled for the Entrepreneur Panel Discussion are Deilja Dickerson, author of Freshman 101, Brian Conchran of brian@bizhelp101.com, actress Jordan Anita Moseley ("Woman Thy Art Loosed"), and others.
Special Musical Guests for the evening concert will feature GRAMMY® nominee and two-time Stellar Award/ Dove Award artist, Da' T.R.U.T.H.; six-time Stellar, GRAMMY®, and Dove Award winner, Tonex; Shekinah Glory psalmist, Tonya Baker; Dove-Award winning Hispanic group, GB5; 5 year-old Alijah Kai (daughter of Tichina Arnold); Laia Jones; 9 year-old City of Refuge sensation, Roman Collins; Christian hip hop artists Levi (formerly from rapper T.I.'s camp), Holy Boy, and Jim Gittum; Gospel recording artists Jackie Gouche, Lorenzo Johnson, and Praizum; actress, Wendy Raquel Robinson's "Amazing Grace Dancers"; L.A. Inner City Mass Choir; and the City of Refuge Young Adult Choir, Psalm.
Over 3,000 free lunches will be served and there will be over 3,000 back to school supplies given to the youth. Red Carpet evening show starts at 6:00 p.m.; doors open at 5:30 p.m. There will be a $5.00 love offering at the door.
